It’s no secret that Kampala is one of my favorite cities and my love affair with it is one that will probably go on for the rest of my life – it’s such a vibrant city.
You might be wondering why though? Well, I studied in Uganda for about 5 years and some of my best memories were made there (And no, I am not a party animal – biggest assumption about kids who studied in Uganda…Lol) so I have been in love since then and I am always looking for excuses to go back and luckily for me, I never run out of them – Lol (albeit I still can’t put together a complete sentence in Luganda…I know, I can’t be helped…But in my defense, I know most of their foods and all things edible in Luganda, that counts as something, right? Haha!
Back in Campus, we didn’t have a lot of money to eat out but every once in a while, we would try out a restaurant in the name of treating ourselves but there wasn’t too much to choose from back then. But that was quite a number of years ago and the Kampala Restaurant Scene has grown tremendously with little hidden gems here and there and that was the inspiration behind my Kampala Restaurant Tour. Plus, I got tired of saying “I have no idea” every time my friends would ask me for recommendations on restaurants in Kampala. Yap, this tour was long overdue!
In this regard, my next four blog posts will be dedicated to some of my favorite Kampala Restaurants that also came highly rated on Eat Out Kampala, Trip Advisor, Foodie Forums on social media as well as recommendations by some of my Ugandan friends. I only had three days in Kla so I managed to check out the amazing Le Chateau, La Patisserie, Holy Crepe and Kahwa2Go. The one restaurant that I missed out on was the adored Cafe Javas which is such a big deal in Kampala but luckily, they eventually opened a branch in Nairobi dubbed CJ’s.
A few teaser pics of upcoming blog posts won’t hurt, right?
I do hope that the next time you are in Kampala, you won’t be clueless as to where to dine and if you already live in Kampala, I hope this motivates you to check out some of these amazing restaurants and who knows, you just might love them as much as I did.
So grateful to Kahwa2Go, Holy Crepe, Le Chateau and La Patisserie for having me and for being great hosts. Ray did such justice to this Restaurant Tour, how amazing are these pictures? So the next time you are in Kampala and need some great pictures, just holla at Ray via his Instagram Page dubbed Ragged Urban. I could get used to doing this and especially when my shy self doesn’t have to take pictures in a room full of people…Lol (I’ll get over it someday soon…Tihihi).
ION, not restaurant related – Mr. Pius Kyomukama, my favorite Ugandan Cake Artist baked me a breathtakingly beautiful orange and french vanilla cake in a black, gold and red theme. I kid you not, the struggle to cut into this cake was so real…It was so beautiful and I loved devouring it even more. So the next time you are in Kampala and need some cake, holla at Cake n Cakey (Click HERE) because his cakes are worth every penny.
That’s it for now, see you on the next post.
