Damn, how fast does time fly though? She was a baby just the other day. I still remember how annoying she was – always crying and ruining play time for Eric and I! And here we are, 22 years later! She has grown into an amazing young woman…so God fearing, gorgeous, intelligent, focused, tough, loving, hard working, ambitious and all shades of awesome!
Luckily, her 22nd birthday fell on a Saturday so I had all the time plan for the surprise. She isn’t a morning person so the possibility of her ruining the surprise was at 0! However, I had to make sure Mum keeps her busy and distracted to ensure that she doesn’t suspect a thing and Mama did such an amazing job at it…Kudos Mum!
So back to the Birthday Breakfast story, one of the key things when planning a party/event no matter how small, is to plan ahead. I worked on the decorations the previous night, bought the red roses after work and lied to her that a client had requested that I do so as part of a surprise he was planning for his wife’s birthday the next day (She fell for it…Lol ), bought the snacks and all the ingredients I needed for the breakfast, baked the birthday cake…..so I was pretty relaxed the next morning.
As for the Menu, I wanted to do a Brunch but opted for simple meals that would not take up too much of my time in the morning. The recipes for most of the meals are already on the blog, do check them out.
#Creamy Macaroni Salad
#French Toast (Soaked in Ice Cream) Bake
#Banana and Mango Smoothies
#Fruit, Yoghurt and Cereals Parfaits

It took me about three hours to cook, decorate the cake and set up the table so was done by around 10.00 a.m. My favorite part of the day had to be seeing the smile on my Mel’s face…priceless! I live for such moments!
Happy 22nd Mel! And may this be your best year yet! I can only imagine the great things and surprises that God has in store for his little girl. Luckily, I get to watch it all unfold! And to my super amazing Mum, thank you for being our rock and our role model….you have raised an amazing young woman!
As always, thank you for taking time to read! If you need help surprising or setting up something special for a loved one, I’d be glad to share tips and any other information you may require.
