Kampala aka Kla…….The Pearl of Africa!
I love this City and for so many reasons….It feels like home to me having being there for around 5 years (Studying). And since my graduation, I am always looking for excuses and reasons to visit Kla. Luckily, I have so many amazing friends there so it’s always a good time!
Kampala is such a lively, dynamic and engaging City…You are bound to love it just as much as I do. It also has so much to offer in terms of tourist attractions, shopping (Shop till you drop is more like it), the traditional food, the coolest hang out spots (The night life is something else…am sure you have heard people rave about it before)…So trust me….Getting bored in Kla isn’t an option! I also love the tropical rain forest climate….always warm….More like Mombasa.
KAHWA2GO RESTAURANT (NTINDA)
And let’s talk Food now….Food is Bae….Always will be! I got to visit my friend’s Restaurant (Super proud of him, one of the Entrepreneurs I look up to). It’s called Kahwa2Go. Such a cool name….and its located at the Ntinda Complex (Opposite St. Luke Church, Ntinda). It has an amazing rustic set up, the decor is so on point, the service is great and the Food….Impeccable!! I still drool at the thought of their milkshakes….Jeez!! So freaking delicious!!
I also loved how vast their Menu options were and the fact that they were reasonably priced. Their Menu has various categories ranging from teas, fresh juices, milkshakes (Yum!), coffees, burgers, and sandwiches, hunger teasers such as wraps, chicken wings, samosas and chips. The lunch and dinner options are so varied…You would be lost for choice…from the curries to the fish to chicken drumsticks….You would love the place! They also have bottomless tea on Tuesdays (Tea Lovers would love this….You get an hour worth of your choice of tea refills) and Book Clubs every month!
He hosted us for a Reunion Brunch before I traveled back to Nairobi and it was amaze-balls!! The Brunch had so many varieties of dishes…which I totally loved since you get to sample a little bit of everything they offer. There was Honey Barbecue Drumsticks, Chapati, Sweet Corn Salad, Mixed Vegetable curry, Roast Potatoes, Nutty Fried Rice and Steamed Veges…….Everything tasted so great!
CAFE OLA (KAMPALA TOWN)
I also had a Lunch Date with another amazing Friend of mine at Cafe Ola and damn….their Bbq Chicken is to die for. It was good….I just had to have it one more time before I left…Yeap, that good! If you are ever in Kampala and are craving Chicken – this is the place. And it is so conveniently located at Shumuk House, Colville Street, Kampala.
KATOGO & CAFE JAVAS RED VELVET
And lastly, got to talk about the yummy Katogo my friend Fatina made for Breakfast…Eish!! That Katogo was so so good!! So Katogo is a traditional breakfast dish and quite popular too…Made with some Nyama, Matoke and fried with some Ghee….Yum! I must have added an extra kilo from that Breakfast since I also had a slice of Cafe Javas Red Velvet Cake (still from a Friend…I know I know, I have the coolest Friends…Lol…they know the way to my heart)….But hey, who’s complaining? FYI, that Red Velvet slice was the bomb dot com…..I get why Cafe Javas is such a big deal.
You totally should add Kampala to your Travel Bucket List, you will love it – especially those who love to party hard! You won’t be disappointed.
Ps: This blog post doesn’t do justice to Kampala – there is so much more I wasn’t able to write about since I was there for just a few days. But I do plan to visit them and do a profile of their top notch hotels and restaurants. Looking forward to that already!
Till next time Kla 🙂
