Kafe Afrikana just opened its Thika Town Branch adding to their list of already existing outlets located in Westlands (The Mall Westlands), Parklands (Park Suites Plaza) and the third been located at Makongeni-Thika (Ananas Mall).
Kafe Afrikana, which is located at the Maisha Heights (Ground Floor), is one you are sure not to miss since its right on the road and opposite the Thika Bazaar. The location is simply perfect since it is easily accessible and they have ample parking space.
The first thing that caught my attention was the cool and warm atmosphere and the sweet aroma of freshly brewed coffee. The restaurant is also elegantly painted with subtle colours and has customized coffee themed mounted photo frames on the wall making it very inviting. They have got free WiFi which is a major plus for me since one can get some work done on their phone/laptop over a cup of latte. Being the newest eatery/restaurant in town and considering that they already have three restaurants across the country, the expectations were pretty high! Plus nothing beats the excitement of trying out a new restaurant so I was really looking forward to it all week. So far, I have visited the place a lot of times….something about their Latte…Lol.
They have an extensive menu ranging from Breakfast Meals (i.e. Croissants, Omelettes, French toasts, etc), Assorted Beverages (i.e. Coffee, Lattes, Mochas, Iced Teas, Smoothies, Milkshakes, Fresh Juices, Lemonades, etc), Cakes (Red Velvet Cake, Black Forest Cake, Carrot Cake and Vanilla Cake), Savory Bites (i.e. Pies, Samosas, Chicken Wings, etc), Sandwiches, Salads, Burgers, Stews and other amazing Main Meal options to choose from. Oh, how dare I forget to mention that they have happy hour every day from 5.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m…..dope, right? Perfect for Friday evening hangouts with your friends!
So far, we have tried the Stir Fried Chicken, Philly Steak and Cheese Sandwich, Bbq Chicken Wings, Honey Glazed Chicken Wings, Creamy Pepper Chicken, Schntzel Chicken, Creamy Pepper Fillet Steak, Chicken Pie, Red Velvet Cake….I know it sounds like quite a lot…the life of a foodie…Lol! However, my favorite had to be the Philly Steak and Sandwich which had strips of tender beef with green peppers onions sautéed in beef and served with melted cheese on brown bread…..so succulent! But then again, I am a sucker for cheese anything!
The one thing that stood out for me was their serving portions….so generous and filing which is pretty amazing in a world where restaurants serve you 5 pieces of chips and call that a damn meal…What kinda of joke be that now? And a bill of Ksh.3000?! Smh! But with these guys…you won’t have to worry about that…total value for money. As for the prices, most of their menu items range from Ksh. 200 to Ksh. 1000 which is pretty reasonable. The waiters/waitresses are super nice and accommodating and the food was also served promptly in most occasions…almost all actually.
Kafe Afrikana Restaurant is a really nice place and I intend to hang out there quite a lot…new hangout spot alert! I’d definitely recommend it, so if you are in Thika or around Thika, don’t fail to stop by.
Thank you Kafe Afrikana and welcome to Thika!
As always, thank you for taking time to read this. I would love to hear about your experience at Kafe Afrikana (if you have been there already).
