Italian Cuisine is definitely of of the most popular cuisines in the world….everybody wants a little bit of it.
I strongly believe in Elisha Cuthbert’s words, “There’s is nothing more romantic than Italian Food”. I love how they create simple yet stunning meals and the secret ingredient is always cheese and more cheese – but hey – I love me cheese anything!
Mambo Italia is definitely a little bit of Italy right here in Kenya. They currently have two restaurants with one located at Lavington Curve (James Gichuru Road) and the other at the Garden City Mall on Thika Road.
Thika Road is quite convenient for me so decided to try out the one at Garden City Mall. I have been to Garden City Mall quite a number of times and had always hoped to dine at Mambo Italia so when the opportunity availed itself – nothing was going to stop me!
Awww….the ambiance! That rustic yet still contemporary decor is probably one of the best I have come across – it is simply gorgeous. I love how restaurants are slowly adopting other interior design ideas other than the usual fine dining and modern contemporary style. Rustic interior design always creates an eclectic look that makes you feel at home and relaxed – a perfect blend of rough and comforting. The restaurant has an indoor eating area and an outdoor terrace which is where we chose to sit.
Now Now, let’s talk about Lasagne and how long I have had it on my culinary bucket list…too freaking long. And the day I first saw Mambo Italia at Garden City – I knew that’s where our first date would be – Lasagne and I. However, I also know that if you slap some cheese on anything, I’ll most likely end up loving whatever it is you are making – am a sucker for cheese anything.
I already knew what I was going to have – Lasagne and funny thing is, my other date (apart from Lasagne) was eager to eat it too but we wanted to try something else then share our meals – sharing is caring! We settled for the Bbq Pork Ribs in their house-made Bbq Sauce.
Our waitress was great – attentive and warm. Our orders too less than 15 minutes as I sipped away on some Tree Tomato Juice which was so delicious. Slurp!!
So finally came my Lasagne – It was so amazingly delicious – yum! The layers of lasagne sheets, mincemeat, sauce and cheese had my taste buds dancing. I know you must be thinking “that is a whole lot of cheese” but do not worry since there is no such thing in my world. The Bbq Pork Ribs were okay – wasn’t too crazy about the house-made sauce but it wasn’t a deal breaker, they were tasty all the same but the Lasagne took the crown.
Mambo Italia’s Menu has a vast range of options such as Gourmet Pizzas (you can actually create your own), Lamb, Pasta dishes, Bruschettas, Lasagne, Antipasto (, Salads and Main such as Steak, Pork Ribs and Chicken accompanied by Chips/Mashed Potatoes, Vegetables and Salad.
Their prices for Pizzas range from Ksh. 750 for regular and Ksh. 1,350 for large. Pasta dishes range from Ksh. 850 to Ksh. 1350 while the mains are as from Ksh. 1250 to Ksh. 1400.
I really loved my experience at Mambo Italia and am glad that I finally got to have a taste of their Lasagne. I would go back and probably will go back soon for that Lasagne – they are so generous with the cheese and that touched my heart…Hahaha! And also, their prices are quite reasonable and the portions are good – total value for your money.
