Nairobi! The City that never sleeps. A city with so much diversity, endless possibilities and the economic hub and benchmark of East Africa. And lest we forget, the only city with a national park (Legit bragging rights right there). Nairobi City is definitely a love at first sight affair and a sprawling blend of so many amazing things from pretty cool buildings that have spectacular views of the city, chic restaurants and so many sights to behold.

You must be wondering why am praising my city this much, huh? Well, TurnUp Travel recently organized the 2nd edition of Nairobi Instagram Tour dubbed NairobaeIGTour that took place in January 2018 (I know, I know…this post is coming in a bit late. But hey, better late than never, right? (*wink wink*)

The NairobaeIGTour was such an amazing experience and curated so perfectly by TurnUp Travel. No kidding, these guys are the real squad goals…so warm, full of energy and a whole lot of fun..there is no dull moment around them. Ps. If you are allergic to extreme FOMO, I suggest that you keep off their Instagram handle…the struggle be real over there…Lol. I suffered too much of it after the first edition of the NairobaeIGTour and I swore to not miss out the next time and true to that, I did show up.

The 2nd edition of NairobaeIGTour comprised of over 60 people with the main agenda being a 24 hour tour of Nairobi from the morning game drive at Nairobi National Park, breakfast at Art Caffe (The HUb – Karen), strolling down CBD to the Nairobi Gallery, shopping at Salute i World, lunch at Bonhomie (The Concord Hotel and Suites), GP Karting on Carnivore Road in Langata, sun downer at the picturesque Four Points by Sheraton at JKIA and the pub crawl began a few hours later into the night.

Without much further ado, let’s get into it.

Let’s just say that I now know and appreciate why game drives are best done early in the morning. The sunrise was so breathtakingly beautiful – I could totally get used to that view. We were so lucky to have met the King of Jungle and he definitely acts like he knows it. It’s funny how we felt so accomplished after seeing Mufasa – the struggle to get up at 4.00 am in the morning was totally worth it. We were also able to spot some Impalas, giraffes, Zebras and Buffalos.

Y’all know this had to be my favourite location of the day – anything that has to do with food is. The Art Cafe breakfast was so freaking delicious – the English Breakfast was such a perfect choice. And as always, their croissants always have that melt in your mouth effect – uber delicious. And their presentation – picture perfect.

Our next stop was at the Nairobi Gallery which is located at the intersection of Kenyatta Avenue and Uhuru Highway (near Nyayo House) and adjacent to the Point Zero Cafe. I strongly believe that very few buildings in the City can match up to the beauty and historical significance that the Nairobi Gallery has – no wonder it comes highly rated as one of the top ten best contemporary art galleries in Kenya by I also loved that the local and international exhibits housed at the gallery were labeled so one can survive the tour without a guide. The charges are about Ksh. 150 for locals which is quite reasonable so you really should make a point to visit this gem of a place. You will love it.

You know what they say, “Shopping is cheaper than therapy”…who comes up with these things though…Lol. Salute i World is located right in town and is an authorized Apple reseller and service centre for all things Apple. So if you have been saving for that Iphone X, you know where to go.

Bonhomie has been on my restaurant wish list for sometime now so I was glad to finally tick it off my list. However, I must admit that I was a bit disappointed by their food and the variety was also quite limited for a buffet but I believe in second chances so I will most definitely be back again. On the other hand, their desserts were so sumptuous and were it not for the time constraints, I would have probably had a few (read several) servings of those (Ain’t no such thing as too much dessert in my world..Hehe).

Well, guys had an option of choosing between GP Karting or Ice Skating but ain’t no way I was going to go for Ice Skating again – the fall I had the last time was enough was keep me off that ice skating rink for the next few years….plus am quite a professional coward so it’s understandable. GP Karting is a pretty cool hang out idea and fairly priced too.

This was definitely worth waiting for…the views from that rooftop were breathtakingly gorgeous. You should have seen how crazy everyone went with their cameras – the kind of view that activates that photography bug in everyone.

We also got to celebrate TurnUp Travel’s 1st Birthday with a lovely Red Velvet Cake. And oh, Happy Birthday TurnUp Travel – may your 2nd year be even more amazing and successful. You deserve it!

I had a feeling I wouldn’t make it to the end of this but I did try though. We started out at 1824 then headed to Alchemist and that is where I finally gave up and called it a night…my bed was calling…Lol.

Thank you Turn Up travel for organizing and curating such an epic tour. It was so easy to see Nairobi in all its beauty through a guided tour and the experience was highly enriched by being in company of new people….endless entertainment and new friendships cultivated. The Ksh. 6000 (Inclusive of transport, meals, park entrance fees, drinks….unbelievable, right?) was well spent and I would gladly do it over and over again and hopefully in other towns too.

Thank you for reading and I do hope you can join TurnUp Travel for the next edition. You can get in touch with them HERE.

Fyi, there is one going down this week. Thank me later 😊

I’m impressed, I have to admit. Seldom do I come across a blog that’s both equally educative and amusing, and without a doubt, you’ve hit the nail on the head.
The issue is something which not enough people are speaking intelligently about.

Now i’m very happy that I stumbled across this during my hunt
    for something regarding this.

You really make it seem so easy along with your presentation however
I to find this topic to be really one thing which I think I might never understand.

It sort of feels too complicated and extremely large
for me. I am looking ahead on your subsequent submit, I will try to get the dangle of it!
