Ever heard of a creperie? Holy Crepe! Well, Holy Crepe is Uganda’s first creperie meaning that they specialize in pancakes and waffles and that got my attention when I was coming up with a list of restaurants to visit during my Kampala Restaurant Tour. I was so amazed by the fact that an entire menu can revolve around crepes and waffles and still be among one of the most highly rated restaurants in Kampala. Who knew, huh? But turns out we also have one called D’s Place at The Hub in Karen.
Funniest thing about our visit here, we got lost for almost 30 minutes, long enough for our Uber guy to propose marriage and give me enough reasons why I should move to Kampala to be with him…Hahaha….experiences Google maps take people through though….Lol. But you should have seen our faces once we got there, every ounce of frustration and fatigue simply disappeared. And oh, our Uber guy (same “let’s get married” Uber guy) had to pretend to be in need of the restrooms just to see more of the place…Hahaha, this guy was a whole mood. Back to Holy Crepe……
Holy Crepe is such a gem – a little but amazing gem of a place and with a million dollar view – it doesn’t get better than that view. The Creperie is adjacent to the gorgeous Seventeen Apartments Hotel in Kololo (Kololo Hill Lane), one of Kampala’s best suburbs and it’s right on the roof top thus the magnificent views of the entire city.
When you first walk in, you are blown away by the the elegance from the staircase to the restaurant – eye catching and very artistic. Once you get to the Creperie, the views will blow you away – you almost don’t want to get your eyes off that view. You can literally see the whole of Kampala while there. And the chic rustic decor is simply gorgeous!
Then comes the menu – these guys deserve an award. The menu truly does revolve around crepes and waffles with all sorts of creative fillings, syrups and additions. And let me not act like their menu isn’t one of the prettiest I have come across, the design and the photography – gets you drooling before you even order. It is hard to believe that I was actually spoilt for choice – totally spoilt – I have a new found respect for Crepes/Pancakes and Waffles. They also have Sandwiches, Wraps, Omelettes, Salads, Smoothies as well as assorted Teas and Coffees.
Finally settled for the classic Belgian waffle with strawberries and cream and some African tea. And the waffle was served while still warm and was slowly soaking in the cream – yum – coupled with an amazing view. Does it really get better than that?
As for their prices, I would honestly say they are reasonably priced especially with that ambiance and the views, the the prices do make sense! Most of their menu items ranged from about Ush. 20,000 (about Ksh. 500) upwards but that view was worth it. The menu can also be accessed HERE on the Jumia Food website. It is such a perfect chill spot especially on those days when you are feeling all so special or having a date….then this is the place. Such a gem!
Please find a link to their Facebook Page HERE and pay them a visit, you’ll love them. And the view!
Thank you for being amazing hosts Holy Crepe, can’t wait to be back. That view is definitely worth coming back to! And the waffles were great too!
Thank you for reading.
